Welcome to the 223rd District Court



The 223rd Judicial District Court, the Judge of the Court the Honorable Phil N. Vanderpool presiding, is a trial court of general jurisdiction serving Gray County, Texas.  The 223rd District Court has original jurisdiction in family cases, including divorce and suits involving children, civil matters in which the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more and including cases involving land, oil and gas, personal injury, and other civil matters, juvenile cases, and about 50% of the felony criminal cases in Gray County.  In addition, through its Associate Judges, the 223rd District Court handles Attorney General child support matters filed by the Texas Attorney General and Child Protection Court cases filed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

The Court Staff includes Krissie Dudley, Court Coordinator, Karen Morris, Official Court Reporter for the Court, and Clark Teague, the Bailiff of the Court.  Each member of the Court’s staff is required to complete continuing education hours each year and are well qualified to serve the Court and participants in matters that come before the Court.
